Kodo Millet Bisi Bele Bath Recipe

Ingredients

  • Kodo Millet (soaked overnight) - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - 1/4 cup
  • Carrots, Beans, Potato & Drum sticks - as required
  • Salt - as required
  • Tamarind Juice - as required
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
  • Chana Dal - 1 tbsp
  • Dried Chillies - 4
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tbsp
  • Black Pepper - 1 1/2 tsp
  • Asafoetida & Turmeric - a pinch
  • Dry Coconut - 1/4 cup
  • Ghee/Oil - as required 

Kodo Millet Bisi Bele Bath Cooking Instructions:

1. Cook the Millet and Toor Dal: Cook the soaked Kodo millet and toor dal separately until soft. Set aside.

2. Prepare the Masala: In a pan, dry roast coriander seeds, urad dal, chana dal, dried chillies, cumin seeds, black pepper, asafoetida, turmeric, and dry coconut. Once fragrant, grind the roasted ingredients into a fine powder.

3. Cook the Vegetables: In a pot, cook the chopped carrots, beans, potatoes, and drumsticks with water until tender. Add tamarind juice and salt to the vegetables.

4. Combine and Simmer: Mix the cooked millet, toor dal, and ground masala into the vegetable pot. Stir well and simmer for a few minutes. Temper with ghee or oil for flavor and serve hot.
