Kodo Millet Bisi Bele Bath Recipe
Ingredients
- Kodo Millet (soaked overnight) - 1 cup
- Toor Dal - 1/4 cup
- Carrots, Beans, Potato & Drum sticks - as required
- Salt - as required
- Tamarind Juice - as required
- Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
- Urad Dal - 1 tbsp
- Chana Dal - 1 tbsp
- Dried Chillies - 4
- Cumin seeds - 2 tbsp
- Black Pepper - 1 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida & Turmeric - a pinch
- Dry Coconut - 1/4 cup
- Ghee/Oil - as required
Kodo Millet Bisi Bele Bath Cooking Instructions:
1. Cook the Millet and Toor Dal: Cook the soaked Kodo millet and toor dal separately until soft. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Masala: In a pan, dry roast coriander seeds, urad dal, chana dal, dried chillies, cumin seeds, black pepper, asafoetida, turmeric, and dry coconut. Once fragrant, grind the roasted ingredients into a fine powder.
3. Cook the Vegetables: In a pot, cook the chopped carrots, beans, potatoes, and drumsticks with water until tender. Add tamarind juice and salt to the vegetables.
4. Combine and Simmer: Mix the cooked millet, toor dal, and ground masala into the vegetable pot. Stir well and simmer for a few minutes. Temper with ghee or oil for flavor and serve hot.
