Barnyard Millet Payasam Recipe

Ingredients

  • Bliss Tree Barnyard Millet, broken - 1/2 cup
  • Milk - 2 cups
  • Sugar/ Any Sweetener - 1/4 cup
  • 2 Cardamom (Elaichi)
  • 10 Cashew nuts
  • 5 Tablespoon Ghee

Cooking Instructions for Barnyard Millet Payasam

1. Cook Millet: Rinse 1/2 cup Barnyard Millet and cook in a pressure cooker with 1 cup of water for 5-6 whistles.
2. Prepare Payasam: In a pan, heat 2 cups of milk. Add the cooked millet and simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 1/4 cup sugar or your preferred sweetener. Stir well until dissolved. Crush 2 cardamom pods and add to the mixture. In a separate pan, heat 5 tablespoons of ghee, fry 10 cashew nuts until golden, and add to the payasam.
3. Serve: Mix well and serve hot or chilled.
